Waves of Persuasion

Candyss Crosby’s contemporary coastal works are fresh, inspiring and peaceful. This seascape evokes the gentle motion and flowing energy of early morning ocean waves and the reflection of light on the water moving over sand banks. Candyss walks along the ocean’s edge and meditates on the beach every morning. She loves watching the sparkling light reflecting on the pulsing waves and is inspired by the power of the ocean. She aims to describe the ocean’s mystery and paradoxes; the ebb & flow, the constant motion, the light on waves, it’s force and vulnerability; softness and strength, its fluidity and tension.
Candyss paints with a multi layering process of thin translucent washes and Irridescent pigments to refract light throughout the painting – as the viewer moves around the room the light is reflected back in different areas of the painting. The painting process is loose, intuitive and a response to memory, feeling and emotion and while painting Candyss meditates on the mood and experience of her dearly loved Manly Beach and being near the water at the Ocean’s edge.
