Evening River Flats

‘Evening River Flats’ was inspired by a walk through the flood prone area of Collombatti Creek floodplains in NSW. It was almost dark and the reflection of evening colours on the waterways was highlighted by the long tall native grasses growing in tufts around the plains. This painting evolved from a building up of lots of layers of oil paint. Layer upon layer – the foundation colours popping through the palette knife scrapings of thick automatic markings.
