Lake Mungo Morning

Candyss intentionally chooses a multi layering of thin translucent washes, iridescent pigment to refract light, and palette knife layers of thicker paint to build up the textured effect she wishes to create. The painting process is loose, intuitive and responsive to feeling and emotion. While painting Candyss meditates on the experience, mood and memory of being in the land at Lake Mungo. The layers of ancient sands, the discovered fossils and bones, the spinifex and salt bush are all part of the experience that she wants to describe.
