New morning pink sky fills the air around me as I walk the forest floor creating new colours of pinks, greys, and purples. The trees beside me, ahead of me, behind me and around me. The forest breathes and I breathe with it, deeply. No two trees are the same. Each with a story. Each reaching for the light. The shadows of the night past are still visible on the forest floor. Back in the studio I use thick oil paint, palette knife and brushwork. Layering new colours created with iridescent pigments. I paint from memory. The bark. The trunk shapes. The mystery. The colour. The light.
