Quiet Reflection

‘QUIET REFLECTION’ was painted as a commission for a client’s home in Singapore. Candyss painted for seven years in Asia and this experience greatly influenced her subject matter. Lily Ponds, waterways and water studies are the main subject themes in this MIDNIGHT REEDS Series. “What inspired me after being surrounded by so much water all my life was the idea of the fluidity of water being an analogy with the constant flow of life- the fluidity of our imagination and our thought process – the defining qualities of the human life. As we flow through stages and move down paths that we may or may not enjoy there is a comfort and consistency of the Self, the Watcher. This comforting and peaceful feeling of the Inner Self is often found through gazing at the water – looking into the ponds at midnight; returning us to that serenity of the Inner Self.” Candyss has received many commissions based on this series and loves to revisit the abstract yet peaceful subject matter.
