“Lake George is a huge flat disappearing lake in south-eastern New South Wales that I drive past on the way to Canberra or to the Snowy Mountains on the Southern Tablelands between Canberra and Goulburn; it runs for several kilometres adjacent to the Federal Highway. It’s always intrigued me. I find it artistically inspiring with the colours, the light, its constantly changing nature and the texture of the grasses and surrounding sparse and rugged beauty. The lake is known to rise and fall – and it’s all due to natural processes of rainfall, run-off and evaporation. This painting ‘BREDBO TO THREDBO’ was inspired by Lake George and the surrounding area and was painted as a commission.” ~ Candyss
