Ascension (Paper Print)

“I used to be scared of sharks. Then I started diving and loved it. I now travel extensively to experience and sketch in remote areas throughout Australia & overseas and especially love diving in The Great Barrier Reef and the Raja Ampat Islands in the Indonesian Archipelago near West Papua. The corals are so healthy, intensely coloured with rich and diverse varieties of coral and sea life – its paradise. I have titled this piece ‘Ascension’ as diving is for me all about transcending limitations and fear and being rewarded with connection, colour, calmness and inspiration.
My paintings are a response to memory and the experience of meditation deep under the surface. In the “Undercurrents” series I have created mixed-media works on canvas and paper aiming for provoking, inspiring, bold and playful artworks. I hope you enjoy them!” ~ CANDYSS
