Candyss finds it important to translate the emotional forces of the ocean, via light, texture & colour, to her viewers. She worked spontaneously with a limited palette in the painting ‘Stormy Monday’. Candyss works with fine brush strokes and thin layers of glazing within the approaching stormy sky and then larger brushwork and palette knife markings in the sand and ocean build up. The title ‘Stormy Monday’ came to her from the fact it was a stormy Monday morning when she had walked her local Manly Beach finding inspiration to paint this subject matter and then she intentionally played the song ‘Stormy Monday’ by T-Bone Walker while she painted the seascape. The song was covered by The Allman Brothers Band and Eva Cassidy.

Oh ho Lord have mercy Lord have mercy on me Yeah, I’m proud, Lord have mercy Lord have mercy on me Though I’m tryin’, tryin’ to find my baby Won’t send ‘er home, yeah, oh baby
