‘SANTA CROCE’ is from a series OUT OF MY MIND INTO THE FIRE that Candyss painted around the time of the birth of her son. Having a young daughter and then the birth of another child and experiencing the death of her father soon after was a particularly challenging time. Painting the series was a cathartic and healing process. This painting is about the ebb and flow of life, the dance and passion of falling in love and creating new life – depicted in the the play of colour, movement and spontaneous approach that Candyss uses here.
