Sandstone Seams

Candyss walks daily along the local ocean setting of Sydney’s Northern Beaches. She contemplates and sketches around the rockpools and cliffs. These are a place of celebration and serenity – embodying memorable years living there with her family since the age of seven. In these works Candyss contemplates the paradox of the ocean – after spending so much time underneath the ocean while diving and then back at home next to the ocean and surrounding rocks – she meditates on how the waves and water – something so soft – can also be so strong – and model, chisel and erode the enduring sandstone rocks.
